Maddie Clarke hasn’t been to Martha’s Vineyard in over 40 years, not since her mother died. But now she’s received a letter from an attorney, saying that the grandmother she barely remembers is now dead, too, and that Maddie has inherited the estate. The trouble is, Maddie thought Grandma Nancy died decades earlier. A divorced mother of a college senior and daughter of a retired college professor, Maddie is on tenure track in her home in Western Massachusetts. It’s summer, so she sets out to settle the estate. But upon arriving in the quaint fishing village of Menemsha, Maddie soon learns that the family secrets have only just begun to unravel.
